East Cobb Marietta Neighborhood Highlight: Atlanta Country Club
October 25, 2008
Atlanta Country Club, situated on 260 acres of rolling hills is certainly one of north Atlanta’s finest private country club communities.
In the early 1960s business leader Jim Clay had a dream of building a world class golf course and bringing a PGA tour event to Atlanta. Jim achieved his goal by being the founder of Atlanta Country Club, which opened in 1964. Then, in 1967 the Atlanta Country Club began hosting the “Atlanta Classic.” This PGA tour event was held annually at Atlanta Country Club for thirty years, except for 1974 when Atlanta Country Club became the site for the inaugural Tournament Players Championship, won by Jack Nicklaus.
In addition to our involvement in professional golf the Atlanta Country Club has hosted many amateur events including the USGA Senior Amateur in 1968 and the USGA Women’s Amateur in 1971.
Located on 260 acres north of Atlanta, the picturesque rolling hills of the Atlanta Country Club are beautifully landscaped and surrounded by historic Civil War sites. The Chattahoochee River is nearby and historic Sope Creek meanders through the course.

How Secure Is Your Property Investment?

After Finding Your Home: The Home Inspection
It’s easy to make sure the home you’ve chosen is a smart buy. By having a home inspection, the home’s vital systems are checked. A home inspection allows you to purchase your home with confidence.
We will help you set up a home inspection after you have chosen the home you like.
Our recommendation is following these minimum standards when choosing a home inspector:
- Membership in ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) and adherence to its Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Written report at the time of inspection.
- UPDATE: Thanks to Nick Gromicko for noting our failure to mention NACHI (National Association of Certified Home Inspectors).
The typical inspection will take approximately three hours and will cover all major systems and components of your new home.
The conditions noted during the inspection are recorded in a detailed computerized report for your reference. Digital photographs will be included for many inspection items.
Our inspectors use a 400-item inspection plan to minimize your investment risk and provide you all the facts regarding the physical condition of your home.
We understand different buyers have different needs — first time buyers may have more questions than a seasoned real estate investor. The home inspectors we recommend take time to listen to our clients.
Our home inspectors are required to address all your concerns. We want you to make an informed investment decision without undue stress, costly repairs or delays.
What Does a Home Inspection Include?
Home inspections include a comprehensive visual examination of your home’s readily accessible elements and components.
Our home inspectors cover the:

- Structure
- Exterior
- Roof
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Interior
- Appliances
- Crawl Spaces
- Heating & Air Conditioning

Additional Services May Include:
- Radon Testing
- Stucco Inspections
- New Construction Inspections
Can I Attend the Home Inspection?
We strongly encourage our clients to attend the inspection and participate in the process. Being present for the inspection will:
- Help you fully understand the home inspection report.
- Receive an in-depth overview of the home you are purchasing.
- Learn how to properly maintain your investment.
Buying a home should be a good experience, one that makes you feel confident.

East Cobb Marietta Neighborhood: Chimney Springs
October 10, 2008
Chimney Springs swim/tennis community, in East Cobb is located at Post Oak Tritt east of Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta 30062 zip code area.
Chimney Springs is a top-notch swim/tennis community with beautiful homes in contemporary, ranch and traditional styles on wooded 1/2 to 3/4 acre lots.
Chimney Springs is convenient to shopping centers, restaurants and entertainment sites and more.
The Chimney Springs site once was part of a settlement established in the 1830’s called Post Oak. The settlement contained several 30 to 40 acre farms within a 2 or 3 mile radius. While cotton was the main cash crop, farmers raised corn, peanuts, watermelons, wheat, oats and small animals. They normally went to Marietta twice a year – once in the spring to purchase supplies and again in the fall to sell their farm products.
A one-room school, a post office, a store and the Old Mt. Zion church at Post Oak and Johnson Ferry Roads served the community.
Among the early families were the Groovers, Lassiters, Adams, Haygoods, Hamiltons, McPhersons, Wrights, Crisseys, Tritts and Murdocks. Some of the roads and schools still carry their names.
Homes in Chimney Springs range from the high $140’s to the high $300’s. The amenities of Chimney Springs, situated on 48 acres of common property, include:
- First rate swimming pool
- Eight tennis courts
- Three mini parks
